| PSTA-48120H |
Summary: This is a high efficiency
switchmode charger based on the latest high frequency power supply design technology. This
enables the charger to pack 8000 watts into a relatively small package. These are also
available in other input and output volatges
Suggested Applications: Fast
charging of flooded lead acid batteries and qualified VRLA batteries for fork lifts, club cars,
golf carts, floats and other electric vehicles.

Usage Note: Typical AC outlets are 1540VA,
14 amp service. To run the higher power units you will need higher power service than is
typically available in a wall plug. Please consult competent technical authorities to determine
the total load on the circuit you intend to supply the power with, including other things
plugged into the same circuit.
Maintenance mode: After the 12V battery is full
the charger goes into a maintanence mode. In maintenance mode the battery is safely floated at
13.56 volts to maintain the battery and replace charge lost due to leakage or self discharge.
In addition, if the battery has not received a bulk charge during a seven-day period, the
charge controller will switch the APS Power Supply into a pre-programmed equalization stage to
top off the batteries, dissolving any sulfate layer on the batterys plates and avoiding
stratification of flooded batteries. Audio Application Note: Operating high
power audio systems from the battery while it is on charge can cause the charger to change
charge stages at random, which you might be able to hear. If you are running equipment from the
battery while the charger is attached you can remove the jumper plug from the charger, which
will revert it to a 13.6 volt power supply to give you better sound. Just plug it back in to
make it a multistage charger.
To perform this function remotely put a toggle switch in
the jumper as follows |
